Legendary rockers The Killers have just announced a one-off midnight performance in Sydney next week, hooking up with Entertainment Quarterโs Liberty Hall to help kickstart the cityโs newest live music venue with a bit of Las Vegas showmanship.
In addition to their stadium show at Qudos Bank Arena on Monday, December 19, The Killers will rock up to the 1,200-capacity Liberty Hall at the stroke of midnight for a full set. That is, we should be getting a truncated form of their current set list, which includes hits like โMr Brightside,โ โHuman,โ โRead My Mind,โ โWhen You Were Young,โ and โSpaceman.โ
The venue, which opened just last month as a replacement to the former Max Watts Sydney (and before that, Factory Theatre), is easily the smallest on The Killersโ Australian tour and should be a bit of a treat for fans who rarely get a chance to see such a monstrously popular band in such an intimate setting.
Frontier Touring and The Killers announced the Liberty Hall performance just this morning, with a pre-sale kicking off on Thursday, December 15 at 10 AM AEDT, followed by a general sale on Friday, December 16 at 12 PM AEDT.
Big-ticket artists performing small shows have, thankfully, become a bit of a trend lately. Back in October, Dua Lipa took a hard left turn from her massive Australian tour to perform an intimate show at Palais Theatre, for example. One can only hope Elton John decides to do the same at Metro Theatre when he tours Australia next month.
The Killers have so far been chewing through their Australian tour, with acclaimed performances in Melbourne and Brisbane as well as a few of the countryโs finest winery estates. Still to go on The Killersโ Australian tour are shows in Sydney and Hunter Valley, as well as of course this just-announced show at Liberty Hall Sydney.
