Welcome to B.H.โ€™s Screen Time, where every week, weโ€™ll give you the cliff notes on whatโ€™s happening in the entertainment industry. From various stages of development chatter and our take on the newest releases, to a fun throwback worth revisiting, think of it as an insiderโ€™s digest meets movie club.

Coming Soon

โ€˜Tis the season when Netflix cranks the old content faucet to the highest possible output (so forgive us for this weekโ€™s Netflix-centric edition of Screen Time). The first cab off the proverbial ranks is The Woman in Cabin 10 directed by Aussie filmmaker Simon Stone.

Here at B.H., we love Keira Knightley and we love a solid psychological thriller. Hence our undivided attention for this upcoming adaptation of the 2016 novel written by Ruth Ware, the latter of which shares the exact same name.

Knightley portrays Laura โ€œLoโ€ Blacklock, a journalist assigned to cover the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise ship, who consequently believes she has witnessed a passenger being thrown overboardโ€ฆ despite all guests and crew members being accounted for.

The Pride & Prejudice actress is joined by Australiaโ€™s own Guy Pearce, Art Malik, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Netflixโ€™s The Gentlemen and Skins alum Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, along with Hannah Waddingham of Game of Thrones and Ted Lasso fame.

This comes in the wake of another recent Netflix project starring Keira Knightley in the spy action thriller series, Black Doves.

The Woman in Cabin 10 release date (international): October 10th, 2025, via Netflix.

Next up, we have Liam Hemsworth inheriting the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill for The Witcher season 4.

As per the official synopsis: โ€œAfter the Continent-altering events of season 3, Geralt (Hemsworth), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allen) find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge, and their goals sharpen, they stumble on unexpected allies eager to join their journeys. And if they can accept these found families, they just might have a chance at reuniting for good.โ€

Cards on the table, weโ€™re not too optimistic about this one. So excuse the lack of elaboration.

The Witcher season 4 release date (international): October 30th, 2025, via Netflix.

Weโ€™re equally ambivalent about Monster: The Ed Gein Story starring Charlie Hunnam (as much as we dig the Son of Anarchy alum), given our long-held belief that showrunner Ryan Murphy is essentially the white manโ€™s Tyler Perry who ghoulishly profits on real-life tragedies instead of harmful blaxploitation.

But weโ€™re also sure this will probably tickle the fancy of many out there.

The latest instalment of Murphy and Ian Brennanโ€™s anthology series after the Jeffrey Dahmer and Menendez Brothers chapters follows the โ€œgodfather of all serial killersโ€: Ed Gein (Hunnam).

In the 1950s, Gein haunted the frozen fields of rural Wisconsin, killing and desecrating the bodies of multiple women. His crimes eventually went on to inspire classic horror films like The Silence of the Lambs, Psycho, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Monster โ€“ The Ed Gein Story release date (international): October 3rd, 2025, via Netflix.

To round out our Netflix-related roundup, comedian Matt McCusker โ€“ one half of the #1 Patreon podcast Matt & Shaneโ€™s Secret Podcast โ€“ is releasing his debut Netflix special: A Humble Offering.

Fans of MSSP wonโ€™t need any selling on the Shamanโ€™s comedic chops. While he hasnโ€™t quite soared to the same heights of mainstream success as his longtime collaborator Shane Gillis, McCusker is certainly his equal. At least in the context of their free-range laughs and unscripted riffing from the hip.

A Humble Offering has been directed by Tyler Falbo of Almost Friday renown, and according to Deadline, this fresh hour sees McCusker โ€œoffer perspective on the homelessness crisis, race relations, and best practices for seducing his wife.โ€

This effectively marks Matt McCuskerโ€™s second comedy special after his self-released The Speed of Light back in 2023, which is currently free to stream.

A Humble Offering release date (international): October 7th, 2025, via Netflix.

Finally, as something of a palate cleanser, the forthcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere starring Jeremy Allen White has a new trailer.

Between the quartet of Beatles movies slated for simultaneous release, Timothรฉe Chalamet-led Oscar bait A Complete Unknown, and the surprisingly inventive Better Man starring a CGI primate stand-in for Robbie Williamsโ€ฆ music biopics are suddenly all the rage again. An dlike we said before, Jeremy Allen White looks to be campaigning nice and early for an Academy Award to go with his Golden Globes.

Directed by Scott Cooper โ€“ who famously crafted the critically-lauded Crazy Heart starring Jeff Bridges, inspired by country singer Hank Thompson; and has adapted Warren Zanesโ€™ 2023 book of the same name for screens โ€“ instead of cramming an entire lifetime into two hours, the film has wisely chosen to focus on a pivotal moment in the Bossโ€™ career.

According to the official synopsis, Deliver Me From Nowhere chronicles the making of Springsteenโ€™s 1982 Nebraska, โ€œโ€ฆ when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past.โ€

Recorded on a four-track recorder in his New Jersey bedroom, the stripped-back and sombre acoustic album is widely celebrated as among his most profound (and enduring) โ€“ an unflinching portrait of the working manโ€™s struggle at a time when the airwaves were dominated by polished rock and synth-rich new age pop championing anything else.

Springsteen โ€“ Deliver Me From Nowhere release date (Australia): October 23rd, 2025.

Palace Intrigue At Warner Bros Pictures

It was only a few editions of Screen Time ago that the famously protracted $8.4 billion merger between Paramount and Skydance was finalised (though not without its own expanded universe of real-life political dramas).

Now, reports indicate the newly formed mega entity is preparing to make an audacious majority cash bid for Warner Bros Discovery.

โ€œA bid for Warner Bros Discovery would be backed by the Ellison family, which includes Skydance head David Ellison and his father, billionaire Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news, citing unnamed sources,โ€ explains Reuters.

And just in case you missed it, the elder Ellison briefly overtook Elon Musk as worldโ€™s richest man this past week after a tidy single-day bump of $100 billion to his net worth. In other words, money quite literally isnโ€™t an issue.

How has the market reacted to this plot twist of a development? Extremely well, at the time of publishing.

Warner Bros Discovery stocks (NASDAQ: WBD) surged by almost 56% following the Wall Street Journal report. The idea is that the next evolution of Skydanceโ€™s mega entity would viably take on the Netflix and Disney streaming hegemony. Aside from the vaunted HBO portfolio, Warner Bros owns:

  • pretty much the entire DC screen universe โ€“ animated and live-action โ€“ to compete with Disneyโ€™s flailing Marvel machinery
  • Harry Potter
  • The Matrix
  • Blade Runner
  • The Lord of the Rings
  • Oceanโ€™s
  • Rocky
  • an endless catalogue of standalone classicsโ€ฆ

โ€ฆ and thatโ€™s before we delve into assets like TNT Sports, Cartoon Network (Adult Swim, Toonami), CNN, Discovery Channel, Food Network, and so forth.

At this rate, it wonโ€™t be long before modern entertainment is controlled by just three conglomerates (if that).
