- Martin Scorsese has reunited with Billions co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien for a Netflix drama series with Las Vegas taking centre stage.
- The project traces its origins to a “general idea” executive producers Julie and Rick Yorn brought to Netflix with Scorsese attached as an episodic follow-up to 2019’s The Irishman.
- Scorsese and Casino aside, Koppelman and Levin famously penned both Rounders and Ocean’s 13 prior to hitting it big with Billions.
In yet another one of life’s funny little symmetries: on the 30th anniversary of Casino starring Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci, Martin Scorsese has officially been greenlit to revisit familiar territory by linking back up with Billions co-creators, Brian Koppelman and David Levien, for a Netflix drama about Las Vegas gambling.

According to Deadline, the eight-episode affair is “set in the high-stakes, sharp-elbowed present-day Las Vegas casino business, which is a modernised but still dangerous version of the legendary city. At the centre of it stands Robert ‘Bobby Red’ Redman, president of the hottest hotel casino in town, who has to make some long odds moves to try and secure his position and take more ground.”
The publication also notes that while the currently untitled project shares a setting with Scorsese’s Casino, the Netflix series “is not related in any way to the film.”

Martin Scorsese (via his Sikelia Productions), Brian Koppelman, and David Levien are joined by the latter two’s producing partner Paul Schiff (Rushmore); the legendary director’s longtime collaborators Julie and Rick Yorn for Expanded Media; as well as former Billions writer-producer Beth Schacter, with Kerry Orent (The Better Sister) serving as co-executive producer.
Koppelman and Levin – who themselves have notably penned Rounders and Ocean’s 13, and briefly worked with Scorsese on HBO’s Vinyl – will also serve as joint showrunners. Stay tuned for future updates (casting, release date, trailer, news, etc.).
