With the release date drawing closer and closer, The Mandalorian season 2 now has a trailer hinting at the wider story. But by in large, the trailer has wisely chosen to hide any details that would be too indicative of whatโs to come โ as all decent trailers should.
Din Djarin/Mando/the titular Mandalorian (portrayed by Pedro Pascal) and The Child (Baby Yoda) are still doing their thing, trudging/hovering from one planet to another with a target painted on their backs. As youโll see in the footage above, nothing has really changed since the conclusion of season 1 in this regard โ every man and his Wookie still want a piece of the duo, clearly to the instigating partyโs detriment.
What The Mandalorian season 2 trailer does telegraph, however, is the role former Jedi Ahsoka Tano (portrayed by Rosario Dawson) may potentially play within the upcoming narrative arc. The objective now clear โ that The Child must be reunited with its own kind, i.e. the Force-sensitive โ meaning a major part of this season will ostensibly involve rediscovering the lost history of Jedi to discern its future, either under the guidance of or eventually leading to Ahsoka.
โThe new season is about introducing a larger story in the world,โ says showrunner Jon Favreau.
โThe stories become less isolated, yet each episode has its own flavour, and hopefully weโre bringing a lot more scope to the show.โ
โEverything gets bigger, the stakes get higher, but also the personal story between The Child and the Mandalorian develops in a way I think people will enjoy,โ says executive producer and director Dave Filoni.
