The director, producer, and screenwriter behind the massive Star Wars franchise was recently declared the worldโs richest celebrity of 2018 with a net worth of $5.4 billion USD ($7.7 billion AUD).
His fortune is in large part thanks to the $4.1 billion USD he pocketed when he sold his production company โLucasfilmโ to Disney back in 2012. Since then he has continued to rise to the top where he sits comfortably, followed by Steven Spielberg ($3.7 billion), Oprah Winfrey ($2.8 billion), Michael Jordan ($1.7 billion) and Kylie Jenner and Jay-Z (tied for $900 million).
David Copperfield, Diddy, Tiger Woods, and James Patterson are also on the top 10 list. All of Americaโs 10 wealthiest celebrities hold a combined fortune of $18.7 billion ($26.6 billion AUD), which is more than the entire GDP of Iceland and up 4% from 2017โs $18 billion. As George Lucas holds a net worth of $5.4 billion, he accounts for nearly a third of the combined wealth of Americaโs 10 richest celebrities.
Needless to say, the force is definitely with him.
