2020 is the gift that just keeps on giving. The latest development in what we can all agree is the strangest of timelines involves Joe Rogan playing debate moderator to both Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Yes โ thereโs an actual possibility that the US Presidential election will ultimately be decided by the outcome of a Joe Rogan Experience podcast episode.
The idea has previously been raised online, then more tongue-in-cheek than sincere. It is, however, gaining a fresh resurgence of traction after an exchange recorded in JRE #1535 with guest Tim Kennedy (linked below โ timestamp: 2:00:40).
โFirst of all, I want no one else in the room, just the three of us,โ says Rogan โ and letโs assume that Rogan will be making an exception for the only fact-checker equipped to handle this clash of intellectual giants, Young Jamie.
โAnd youโd have to stream it live so no one can edit it, and I would want them in there for hoursโฆ If they wanted to do that โ they both wanted to come here in Austin, sit down and have a debate โ I would 100% do it.โ
Not one to ever shy away from the cameras, sitting President Trump has already accepted the offer via Twitter. Meaning one less obstacle involving this hypothetical Joe Rogan debate has officially been knocked out of the way. Still, a few considerable hurdles stand in the way. Chiefly among them includes getting Biden to agree โ which currently seems highly unlikely. But again, nothing would really surprise us at this point. Or as Rogan himself would say, itโs entirely possible.
Joe Rogan has long maintained an open policy when it comes to the matter of politics, welcoming โ and even endorsing โ figures from both the Democratic and Republican parties. Notable guests of this kind featured in past Joe Rogan Experience episodes have included the likes of Bernie Sanders, Andrew Yang, and Dan Crenshaw. Hence why many believe the worldโs most prolific podcaster and UFC colour commentator is the best man for the job.
What a world we live inโฆ
