In an effort to sabotage absolutely everyoneโs fitness-related New Yearโs resolutions for 2023, McDonaldโs Australia has announced a tantalising addition to its already calorically-rich menu: Potato Scallops with chicken salt.
From January 11th (today), youโll be able to feast on these time-honoured โ and quite frankly iconic โ Aussie treats all across the nation. Both in your local McDonaldโs restaurants and via McDelivery.

โMaccaโs is giving you another reason to get together this summer, with a menu thatโs as good on a road trip with mates as it is at the beach or in the backyard on a summerโs day,โ said McDonaldโs Australia Marketing Director Tim Kenward.
โWeโve got the latest spins on your burger favourites, topped off with the debut of Potato Scallops with Chicken Salt and Hokey Pokey Thickshake.โ
โWhatever your plans are, weโve got you covered, because nothing quite goes together like the great Aussie summer and Maccaโs.โ

As alluded to earlier, other domestic debutantes coming to the golden arches include the following:
- Aussie Angus Deluxe
100% Aussie Angus beef patty, served with bacon, beetroot, Maccaโs cheese, lettuce, tomato relish, and aioli on a classic bun. - McSpicy Deluxe
100% Aussie, RSPCA-Approved chicken fillet covered in a fiery crispy chilli coating, mayo, lettuce, cheese, and tomato on a sesame seed bun. - Hokey Pokey Thickshake
McDonaldโs says the โhighly requested Hokey Pokeyโ Thickshake is a thick, smooth, and creamy milkshake mixed with Hokey Pokey flavoured syrup.
The one downside, aside from whatever itโll do to your summer rig, is that Potato Scallops will only be served in McDonaldโs for a limited time. So enjoy it while it lasts.
Side note: I donโt care what you mutants in Victoria and South Australia try to tell me โ theyโre Potato Scallops. Not โpotato cakes.โ And certainly not โpotato fritters.โ Pull ya head in.
