  • Sydney is officially the world’s best steak city, according to the same authority behind the 101 Best Steak Restaurant rankings.
  • The Harbour City is notably home to 11 of the 101 honoured establishments, ranging from Neil Perry’s Margaret at #2 to Bistecca at #99.
  • The Australian representative outperforms the likes of Buenos Aires, Madrid, London, and New York City.

A month after storming the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurant rankings for 2025 with an impressive showing that reached as high as the #2 spot, Sydney has been named the global steak capital by the very same judging authority.

“Crowned the Best Steak City in the World, Sydney continues to raise the bar for meat lovers globally,” reads the rationale from World’s Best Steak.

“Leading the charge: Neil Perry’s Margaret in Double Bay ranked No. 2 in the world – a masterclass in precision, produce and pure Australian hospitality.”

The Harbour City was, of course, the dominant Aussie representative this year as home to almost two-thirds of the honoured domestic entrants (11 to Melbourne’s six out of the total 17).

In addition to the aforementioned Margaret at #2, we have Rockpool Bar & Grill (#12), The Grill at The International (#14), former two-time beef king Firedoor (#16), Porteño (#20), The Gidley (#32), Paul Farag’s Aalia (#36), Shell House (#51), The Cut Bar & Grill (#62), 20 Chapel (#93), closed out by the Tuscan-inspired Bistecca (#99).

The Top Five cities were rounded out by Argentina’s Buenos Aires – home to reigning #1 steak restaurant Don Julio Parrilla and three others – Madrid in Spain with eight nods, London with seven, as well as New York City, where you’ll find nine ranked diners.
