  • Sydney’s Margaret has been crowned Australia’s best steak restaurant, as judged by the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants list.
  • While the full list isn’t expected to be released until May this year, the organisation has offered a teaser by releasing Australia’s best steak restaurants.
  • Overall, Sydney steak restaurants dominated the list, claiming 16 places in the top 30 venues ranked.

According to the good people behind the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants list, Sydney is home to most of Australia’s best steak restaurants.

Double Bay’s Margaret has been crowned Australia’s best steak restaurant by the folks at World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants (check out the 2025 list here), ahead of the global 2026 list dropping. If you’re yet to visit the newly crowned establishment, Neil Perry’s Margaret is the polished, confident kind of “fine diner” that makes you more than happy to add another 10% to the bill when it arrives.

While we’ve still got a couple of months to wait before the full list is announced, the crew behind the ranking has teased their Australia list on socials, and Sydney totally dominated, claiming 16 places on the top 30 list.

As far as how the rest of the list reads, Margaret takes the gold, Firedoor lands at number two, and Aalia hits third – a timely reminder that great steak isn’t always white tablecloths and béarnaise.

Further down, Sydney keeps swinging, with Grand Torino (7), The International (9), Porteño (10), Rockpool Bar & Grill (11), The Gidley (12), plus newer blood like 20 Chapel (13) and Magma by Dany Karam (14).

Then you’ve got the rest of the best, with The Cut Bar & Grill (19), Hubert (20), Eleven Barrack (22), Shell House (23), Bistecca (25) and harbour-side classic Kingsleys (30).
