  • Ultra-endurance athlete William Goodge has inked a new record for running across Australia (from Cottesloe Beach to Bondi Beach).
  • Goodgeโ€™s inspiration was to raise money for cancer charities in the UK, US, and Australia, following the passing of his mother in 2018.

Nedd Brockmann became a household name after traversing Australia on foot in 2022. But since then, the record for running from Cottesloe Beach to Bondi Beach has been hotly contested. Just a year later, Chris Turnbull would set a new benchmark with 39 days, and today, British ultra-endurance athlete William Goodge has revised it to 35.

Having already become the fastest Brit to run across the US, heโ€™s now made history in Australia; driven by a deeply personal mission after losing his mother to a battle with cancer back in 2018.

Spurred on by loss, William Goodge pushed himself to his limits for over a month: averaging more than 100 kilometres a day on his 3,800km journey from Perth to New South Wales. In May alone, according to his Strava, he clocked over 2,000km across 251 hours.

As mentioned earlier, this ultra-endurance feat isnโ€™t just about speed โ€“ Goodge has been raising money for the Cancer Council of Australia in honour of his late mother, as well as similar charities in the UK and the US. The run has been a means of channelling his grief and her strength into something positive.
