Everyone knows electric cars are here to stay, but for true lovers of the art and engineering of the combustion engine โ itโs a sad time in the history of the automobile. While some brands have already produced their last entirely combustion-powered cars, the Bugatti W16 Mistral is the last ever supercar to arrive with such a powertrain and the Italian automaker is sending it off in style with one of the finest automotive photoshoots weโve ever seen.
Just like dialogue in a Tarantino script or farewells at an airport departure gate, thereโs no rushing this send-off and appropriately so. In what has to be one of the most spectacular series of images youโre ever likely to have laid eyes on, the 8.0-litre combustion engine supercar took a trip to Japan, where it was captured against the glorious backdrop of the land of the rising sunโs iconic Mount Fuji.
The โฌ5 million (AU$8.7 million) Bugatti W16 Mistral was also shot at a number of other remarkable sites, including Oishi Park, the ancient Kanda Myojin Shrine, and Gลra Kadan in the hot springs area of Hakone. While itโll be the last time we can enjoy the pulse-quickening 16 cylinders, four turbochargers and 1,578hp, all we can do is remember what an incredible period of automotive engineering we were lucky enough to be alive during.
