  • The Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco 49ers clash at the MCG is the first-ever NFL regular season game in Australia.
  • Amex Card Members get first access to NFL Melbourne tickets from April 1 at 9:00 AM AEDT, beating the general public to one of the most in-demand sporting events of the year.
  • American Express’ new global partnership with the NFL means presale access like this will continue across future international games and major events.

With the news that the first NFL league game will be held on Australian shores, the county’s growing base of hardcore football fans (estimated to be around 7 and a half million Australians) have been patiently waiting to hear how to secure front row seats the clash between Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers on Friday, September 11.

Of course, tickets were always going to be competitive. But with this recent announcement from American Express, the global payments company has just put its Australian customers, both old and new, ahead of the pecking order for this historic clash.

Amex Card Members Platinum Holder

American Express has just inked a multi-year global partnership with the NFL, officially stepping in as the league’s payments partner from the 2026 season. From tomorrow, Wednesday April 1, from 9:00 AM AEDT, Amex Card Members will be among the first to grab their Amex Presale Tickets for one of the biggest NFL match-ups anywhere in the world next season.

What does that mean for existing holders? Well, this kind of early access is about to become the norm, so having the chance to secure presale tickets before anyone else, getting into the stadium early with priority entry, curated fan experiences exclusive to Amex members, and even those money-can’t-buy moments that make being a card holder a must-have, rather than a nice-to-have.

“American Express has a proven track record of elevating major sports moments, and together we’ll provide our fans and their Card Members with more ways than ever to engage with the sport they love.”

Renie Anderson, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer, NFL

As we’ve already said, it quietly pays to be an Amex member. So if you were on the fence about whether that little piece of plastic in your wallet is pulling its weight, consider this your sign. Because today’s news isn’t exactly a one off.

Not an Amex member? NFL Fans down under still have another way to secure their seats: MCC members can access a dedicated pre-sale starting Wednesday, April 1 at 10:00 AM AEDT via Ticketmaster, while public tickets go on sale a week later, Wednesday, April 8 at 10:00 AM AEST.

So if you’re like us, watching the NFL from afar, quietly waiting for that front row seat, this is your moment to get closer.

And if you’re already holding an Amex card, or signed up to the MCC, you might want to set that alarm tomorrow. Because while everyone else is refreshing the ticket page later this week, you’ll already be figuring out what jersey to wear.
