Maison Margiela has continued to expand its line of avant-garde accessories with a collaboration with South Korean sunglasses brand Gentle Monster, which was first spotted in the Paris-founded high fashion label's Artisanal 2022 collection. In a wide-ranging collection that includes sunglasses and everyday specs, the near-dozen designs cover everything from the exuberant and futuristic to more classic styles you could wear to a family lunch.
In total, the Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster collaboration collection features 11 different styles, the names of which are straightforwardly named MM001 to MM011 in line with Margiela's numerical labelling convention found across its entire catalogue. Despite the occasionally opulently curved and generously proportioned frames, there's a distinct simplicity that can be found in every style, from the heftily contoured MM003 to the wayfarer-esque MM010, most of which are available in a number of different tones including black, white, transparent and even tortoise shell.
All are constructed from high-grade acetate and feature Maison Margiela's eight-encircled logo, with the lenses of the everyday glasses enjoying blue light protection. All pairs from the new collection will arrive in a hand-stitched quilt package and will be available for sale from the 28th of February, with pricing still to be confirmed.
