Balenciaga has opened its second store in Australia in Westfield Sydney. The Demna Gvasalia designed store emulates the brand’s current attitudes and future goals exploring both typical and atypical architecture features in retail environments.
A new system of sliding room dividers hang from the ceiling, not quite walls and not quite curtains, made of quilted velvet stitched with a repeating Balenciaga logo, while industrial lights weave throughout the space exposing pipes and concrete pillars. Blue benches and a blue carpet with a repeating logo soften the otherwise greyscale space with glass and polished aluminium shelving complementing Balenciaga’s men’s and women’s RTW collections, shoes, bags and accessories.
To coincide with the opening of the first Balenciaga Sydney store, an exclusive Sydney Shopping Bag is available in-store in strictly limited quantities.
