  • Ralph Lauren has unveiled its Team USA Winter Olympic uniforms for the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games.
  • In true Ralph Lauren style, the uniforms include both functional and stylish pieces, ranging from technical outerwear to knitted sweaters.
  • The collection is now available from Ralph Lauren, with prices ranging from US$28 (~AU$45) to US$1,998 (~AU$3,000).

Aussies generally only care about the Summer Olympics because โ€“ letโ€™s be honest โ€“ we love winning, and given our geography, the Winter Olympics just arenโ€™t as much a focal point for us. But Team USAโ€™s killer Ralph Lauren-designed uniforms are giving us a good reason to tune in. As well as the slightest pangs of jealousy.

Why jealousy? Well, quite frankly, Australia has never really impressed us with any iteration of its Olympic team uniform. And what Ralph Lauren has accomplished is genuinely spectacular.

Australia seems creatively stuck in the past: kitted out in white blazers that are too tailored to have any Miami Vice cool, along with green and gold tracksuits that look as though they belong in a Rebel Sports discount bin.

Ralph Lauren, on the other hand, has artfully danced the line between form and function, bringing together a collection that any American could proudly wear from aprรจs-ski to the office and back.

Weโ€™re talking cream-coloured wool twill toggle coats with matching wool twill trousers, knitted wool turtleneck sweaters with the Olympics logo and American flag, and even shirts flaunting graphics of the iconic Polo Bear in the teamโ€™s Olympic uniform (a bit of visual Team USA inception).

In addition to the genuinely stylish garments that basically anyone could wear casually, thereโ€™s also a line-up of purpose-built winter gear, including puffer jackets, fleece-lined tracksuits, and Team USA base layers that youโ€™d happily rock on the slopes.

โ€œRalph Lauren has had the immense privilege of outfitting Team USA for nearly 20 years, and the significance and sheer magnitude of dressing our nationโ€™s incredible athletes โ€“ on the most dramatic stage in sport as they pursue their lifelong dreams โ€“ is an honour that never fades,โ€ said David Lauren, Chief Branding and Innovation Officer, Ralph Lauren Corporation.

โ€œOur design philosophy has always been about creating dreams and telling stories through style, and these uniforms, both timeless and modern, reflect the passion, optimism, and relentless pursuit of excellence that embody the American spirit. With Milan โ€“ one of the great fashion capitals โ€“ as this yearโ€™s backdrop, we sought to honour the cityโ€™s creative spirit while staying true to the enduring style that defines Ralph Lauren.โ€

If there were a gold medal for team uniforms, America would already be walking away with one, whereas the Sportscraft-clad Aussie team wouldnโ€™t even qualify for the heats. It feels slightly unpatriotic to recommend purchasing, but the collection is now available via Ralph Lauren, with prices ranging from US$28 (~AU$45) for socks to US$1,998 (~AU$3,000) for the Team USA Opening Ceremony Toggle Coat.
