  • Crocs have revealed their newest silhouette in the Classic Boat Shoes.
  • Featuring vegan leather uppers and linings, the outsole is constructed from the familiar lightweight Croslite.
  • The Crocs Classic Boat Shoes are currently available from Huckberry with an RRP of US$65 (AU$100).

Crocs have set a new benchmark for casual cool with the Classic Boat Shoes โ€“ a bold, unorthodox silhouette that blends the quintessential outsole we know and love with a boat shoe-inspired upper.

Minor sarcasm aside, as much as this might feel like itโ€™s coming out of left field, the brand actually debuted over two decades ago at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. And according to the brand, the Islander Pit Crew that inspired the modern Classic Boat Shoe is one of the most sought-after designs in its archive.

The Crocs Classic Boat Shoes are almost entirely constructed from the same lightweight Croslite foam used in the rest of its shoes, but also feature pebble-grained vegan leather uppers with vegan suede linings. Theyโ€™re still the comfortable, breathable Crocs we all know, only with a touch of โ€œupper-middleโ€ class.

Sure, itโ€™s an aesthetic thatโ€™s guaranteed to divide opinions โ€“ Crocs have more than their fair share of haters (one loathed them to the point of starting a site called I Hate Crocs dot com); and boat shoes have long been derided as a shoe for WASPy types in popped-collar polos and ill-fitting chinos. Yet here we are, with the Crocs Classic Boat Shoes selling out as we speak.

In an era so chronically online that concepts of authenticity and irony have all but collapsed in on themselves, perhaps a medley of two footwear categories the internet-addicted love to complain about is a winning combination. Just like the resurgence of the โ€œparty downstairs, businesses upstairsโ€ mullet, are these shoes aware theyโ€™re bad to the point theyโ€™re good?

Weโ€™re not here to judge your footwear preference, though we can guarantee no one will be without an opinion about these fresh slip-ons. If youโ€™re keen for a pair, the Crocs Classic Boat Shoes are currently available via Huckberry for US$65 (AU$100).
