  • The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tech 45mm returns to the brandโ€™s catalogue as a regular production dive watch.
  • Originally launched as the limited edition Tech Gombessa in 2023, this latest reference is a slightly scaled-down version and arrives with new interchangeable rubber straps.
  • The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tech 45mm is currently available from brand boutiques with a local RRP of $34,600.

Two years ago, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms had a big year. For the popular dive watchโ€™s 70th anniversary, its watchmaker celebrated by debuting the beefy Tech Gombessa. An answer to the question, โ€œWhat would the Fifty Fathoms look like if it were launched today?โ€

While that 47mm limited edition has since been retired to the archives, today, we have its latest evolution in the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tech 45mm โ€“ which is slightly more wearable from a few different angles.

Its titanium case measures 45mm in diameter by 14.1mm thick (2mm smaller in diameter and 0.7mm thinner), and in a first for the collection, it now offers the option of three different interchangeable rubber straps in white, orange, or black.

What has remained the same relative to the limited edition is the โ€œabsolute blackโ€ dial (which absorbs 97% of ambient light) and the ever-reliable calibre 1315A powering the watch. Visible through the exhibition caseback and finished without too much pomp or ceremony, it boasts a very impressive power reserve of 120 hours (or five days).

All considered, it truly is a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms for the modern era. For one, the interchangeable straps are a great addition to the family that makes it infinitely more customisable and easier to wear when youโ€™re not diving.

For another, the case size enjoys more โ€œcivilianโ€ proportions, while its shape and titanium construction both mean itโ€™ll likely wear a lot smaller on the wrist than its specs suggest. Retaining its function-forward, purpose-built DNA, itโ€™s evolved just enough to be an everyday companion (in and out of the water).

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tech 45mm is currently available from brand boutiques with a local RRP of $34,600.
