Uber Reveals Aussie Cities With The Best (And Worst) Rider Ratings

• According to Uber, the average rider rating here in Australia is currently 4.82.
• The city and state that scored the highest in this regard are Newcastle and NSW, respectively.
• Perth and WA have once again been deemed the lowest-rated city and state.

While the world is preoccupied with this year’s Spotify Wrapped, Uber has quietly released its own equally crucial annual stat breakdown: The Annual Rider Ratings Ranking.

As a “cultural litmus test,” the national average here in Australia sits at 4.82/5 stars. So if you’ve dipped considerably on the wrong side of this, it might be time to re-evaluate a few things. Likewise, kudos are in order for anyone hovering about the benchmark.

In terms of the city that’s consistently the nicest, Newcastle has once again topped the list with a solid average rating of 4.89. Perth, on the other hand, has defended its title as the least pleasant major metropolitan area for Uber drivers with an average rating of 4.79.

This spectrum has also been reflected in the state rankings with NSW up top (4.84), improving from last year’s second place, and Western Australia down the bottom (4.79).

After ensuring your device has the latest version of the official Uber app, simply open it and tap Account on the bottom right — your overall rider rating will be displayed in the top left corner.

But if you want to go even further and see how many 1/2/3/4/5-star rides you’ve logged:

1. In the settings menu of your app, select Privacy then Privacy Centre.
2. Swipe to the right and select the “Would you like to see a summary of how you use Uber?” tile.
3. Scroll down to the Browse Your Data section and select View My Ratings to see the breakdown.
