  • Uber has launched a limited-time safari service in South Africa, which will run until February 1st, 2024.
  • The full-day trip takes guests through one of South Africa’s greatest game reserves, where they’ll get the opportunity to see lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and rhinos.
  • For a group of up to four guests, it’ll only cost you US$200 (AU$290).

You can’t say that Uber doesn’t ever try new things.

This year, they’ve been busy branching out with a few exclusive activations: after the Uber Bubbles champagne tour in France, there was Uber Yacht in Ibiza (along with Uber Boats around Europe’s other party hotspots), and more recently, Uber Snowcat in New Zealand. As for its latest experience, the rideshare company wants to drive you to the jungle with Uber Safari.

The experience takes place at the Aquila Private Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s most popular wildlife conservancies, where guests can have the rare opportunity to see the big five animals — lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and rhinos.

Riders will be picked up in Cape Town and treated to a welcome toast and lunch, then head out on the roughly three-hour-long drive. Once the safari trip concludes, guests can explore Aquila’s grounds before being taken back to Cape Town.

Uber Safari reservations are available through the rideshare app from October 1st and will run every Friday and Saturday until February 1st. A trip can be booked anywhere between 24 hours to 90 days in advance; and only costs US$200 USD (AU$290) for a group of up to four guests.

Johan van Schalkwyk, Commercial Officer of Aquila Collection, said: “Uber Safari allows folks to book and enjoy an unforgettable day at Aquila, where they’ll get to experience the Big 5 in an easy and luxurious way. It’s the perfect combination of modern convenience and natural beauty, all while supporting wildlife conservation efforts that are vital to preserving South Africa’s biodiversity.”

So if you happen to be in Cape Town over the next couple of months, consider getting up close and personal with nature. Find out more below.
