Here at Boss Hunting, weโve written about more than our fair share of special LEGO sets, from the collaboration with F1 and the 2,000-piece Concorde kit, to the Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole you can actually afford. This week, however, might be the coolest kit weโve seen to date with the arrival of The Lord of the Rings: Sauronโs Helmet set.
This upcoming Icons set contains 538 pieces and turns the biggest, baddest character in Middle-earth into a sculptural, display-ready trophy. Standing 33cm tall (13cm wide and deep), it nails the jagged silhouette you remember from the films, with obsidian-like spikes, intricate fretwork, and a weathered, battle-scarred texture built from specialised elements.

It sits on a sleek black display stand with a printed name plaque, and LEGO has sweetened the deal with an exclusive Sauron mini-figure, kitted out with his mace and a gold-toned ring. Park him in front of the mask and the whole scene clicks into place, with a collector-grade sculpture and a figurine you wish you had when you were growing up.

Regardless of whether youโre a fan of The Lord of the Rings or LEGO (or, ideally, both), thereโs zero question that this is one of the coolest sets thatโs been released in years, and one thatโs more than worthy of the โIconsโ category as one of the most famous helmets in cinema history. Basically, a faithful recreation of cinemaโs most imposing helmet, designed to live on your shelf like a relic looted from Barad-dรปr.
Priced at $130, pre-orders for the LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Sauronโs Helmet set are currently open, with shipping to begin from March 1.
