The world will have to endure a few more years of the Fast & Furious franchise as Vin Diesel reveals multiple spin-offs are currently in active development. Despite earlier reports that Fast X (as well as the next instalment on the docket) would serve as a two-part finale to what has frankly been a slow and undignified death.

โ€œI started developing the female spin-offโ€ฆ in 2017 with other spin-offs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spin-offs,โ€ Diesel, who portrays Dominic Toretto, told Variety.

According to Michelle Rodriguez, said female spin-off might rely on the talents of an all-new lineup.

โ€œYou pass the baton on. You take the back seat. You go passenger side,โ€ explained Ortiz, who has featured as Letty Ortiz โ€“ wife and literal partner-in-crime to Dieselโ€™s Dominic Toretto โ€“ since The Fast & The Furious (2001).

โ€œWhen it comes the next generation, you have to. Itโ€™s the only way to let them define the future.โ€

To make matters worse, earlier this month, Vin Diesel teased the possibility of stretching out the two-part finale into an even more laborious three film affair.

โ€œGoing into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter. And after the studio saw this one, they said, โ€˜Could you make Fast X, the finale, a trilogy?โ€™โ€ he said of the potential 12th film.

Diesel later added: โ€œLook how many characters and great talent there is in the movie.โ€

โ€œThere was no way I can pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. These characters are appealing and we need to see more of them.โ€
