Prince of bangers Fred againโฆ only recently got done with a brief Australian tour that was so wildly popular that by the time the British producer was done, he had become a household name. Weโve seen his name pop up more than a few times since then, between selling out Madison Square Garden with Skrillex and slow-dripping us new music every now and then.
We didnโt expect his latest move, however. That is, Fred againโฆ has become the latest artist to take part in NPRโs long-running Tiny Desk Concert series. Given the Tiny Desk isnโt exactly known for hosting electronic music, itโs slightly awkward watching the man running solo around a stacked set-up, playing the piano, marimba, vibraphone, his beloved Maschine, and even using the desk itself as part of the production.
Itโs a stripped-back, acoustic set from an electronic musician. Rare and insightful, validating the producerโs distinctive, sample-heavy approach to songwriting through songs like โKyle (i found you),โ โDelilah (pull me out of this)โ and Faisal (envelops me).โ
