Ocean's 14

Months after an extremely promising pre-production update, George Clooney has revealed location scouting is now underway for the long-awaited Ocean’s 14 – with a tentative principal photography start window of October 2026.

In conversation with Variety, the leading man echoed earlier sentiments about how it’ll draw inspiration from Martin Brest’s 1979 comedy Going in Style, starring George Burns and Art Carney as aging bank robbers (later remade by Zach Braff in 2017 with Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin).

“There was something about the idea that weโ€™re too old to do what we used to do, but weโ€™re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me,” said Clooney.

“Theyโ€™ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations.”

Clooney also reiterated that Ocean’s 14 will reunite him with the likes of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Don Cheadle, as well as Andy Garcia.

At the beginning of 2025, it was reported that David Leitch was in active negotiations with Warner Bros to direct. At the time of this writing, the stunt extraordinaire turned The Fall GuyBullet Train, and John Wick filmmaker is ostensibly still attached โ€“ furthering his extensive history with Brad Pitt (Leitch was the actor’s stunt double on five occasions before their Bullet Train collaboration).

Ocean’s 14 release date (international): 2027.

In Netflix-related news, as reported a few months ago, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have reunited for a Training Day meets The Town-style crime thriller dubbed The Rip – which hits streaming queues in just a matter of weeks.

Inspired by true events, this post-Air collaboration between the lifelong bros centres upon a team of Miami police officers who stumble upon millions in cash while raiding a stash house. As you can imagine, alliances are tested as the authorities (and other interested parties) learn of the otherwise untraceable jackpot discovered.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are joined by a veritable who’s who, ranging from the perennially beloved Steven Yuen, music artist turned screen star of One Battle After Another renown in Teyana Taylor, veteran thespian Kyle Chandler, and action don Scott Adkins, to Sasha Calle and Catalina Sandino Moreno. The Rip has been written and directed by Jon Carnahan (The A-Team, The Grey, Boss Level).

The Rip release date (international): January 16th, 2026, via Netflix.

Hugh Jackman is re-writing folklore with A24’s The Death of Robin Hood.

In this dark reimagining of the well-tread mythology, the legendary outlaw “grapples with his past life of crime and murder while in the hands of a mysterious woman after being critically injured” from a battle he thought he’d survive.

The Aussie multi-hyphenate talent is joined by Jodie Comer, Murray Bartlett, Noah Jupe, Faith Delaney, and Bill Skarsgard as Little John. The film has been directed and adapted for screens by Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One) with moody cinematography accomplished by Pat Scola.

A24’s The Death of Robin Hood release date: 2026.

Nicolas Cage has transformed into the real-life NFL legend John Madden โ€“ and Christian Bale as Oakland Raiders team owner Al Davis โ€“ for Amazon MGM Studio’s Madden, which now has a teaser trailer.

Written and directed by the Academy Award-nominated David O. Russell, the film follows the titular man’s journey: from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Davis and the Raiders as a coach, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming โ€œone of the most iconic voices in football history.โ€

Having never recorded a losing season, to this day, John Madden holds the highest winning percentage among NFL head coaches who notched at least 100 games, and remains the Raidersโ€™ franchise leader as head coach with the most victories (103).

Kathryn Hahn, Sienna Miller, comedians John Mulaney and Shane Gillis, along with Joel Murray, make up the rest of the main cast.

Madden release date: November 26th, 2026 (via Amazon Prime Video).

HBO has one helluva month coming up with the premiere of both Industry season 4 and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Having previewed both the Michael Clayton-esque instalment of the finance drama and the next Game of Thrones prequel, we can confidently assure you that prestige television is returning in a big way. Standby for slightly more in-depth reviews of each one when the embargoes lift.

Industry season 4 release date: January 12th, 2026 (Australia).
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms release date: January 18th, 2026 (Australia).

James Cameron Rides ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ To Another Billion-Dollar Box Office Haul

In just 18 days, James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash has blazed its way past the US$1 billion benchmark at the global box office (US$306 million from the US domestic market, over US$777 million internationally).

The trilogy completer has joined the three-comma club a tad slower than its predecessor in 2022โ€™s Avatar: The Way of Water (14 days), and just marginally slower than the one that started it all in 2009 (17 days). Each film eventually grossed US$2.3 billion and US$2.9 billion, respectively.

As for the question of whether we’ll see a fourth Na’vi-centric adventure on Pandora, that’ll depend on whether Fire and Ash has enough staying power to surpass the US$2 billion benchmark. Still, this latest development is no doubt an impressive feat from Cameron, who, in addition to being a reluctant billionaire, has now crafted three – potentially four – of history’s five highest-grossing films.

Forbes estimates Cameron is on track to personally earn at least US$200 million for Avatar: Fire & Ash alone (before taxes and fees). To date, his films have generated approximately US$10 billion at the box office worldwide.
