In the wake of the first season’s Hindi remake starring Aditya Roy and Anil Kapoor premiering on Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and the BBC jointly decided to give the people what they’ve been asking for with The Night Manager season 2.
Now, another two years later, we’re on the precipice of finally streaming the goods (at least according to the BBC marketing rollout and Vanity Fair buzz).

In terms of story, this continuation of the late John le Carré’s novel will hail the return of Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Coleman, who reprise their roles as Jonathan Pine and Angela Burr, respectively. Flash-forwarding in real time, a decade after the events of season 1, Hiddleston’s Pine has been living under the identity of Alex Goodwin – a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance outpost in London.
Jonathan/Alex’s relatively quiet and “comfortingly uneventful” life, however, is rudely interrupted after a chance sighting of an old mercenary once employed by billionaire nemesis Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) – which leads to a violent encounter with a brand new player: Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva).
Ripped away from the monotony of his everyday, what follows for our reluctant hero is thrown into another globe-trotting affair – this time involving businesswoman Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone), a guerrilla army looking to destabilise a nation, and the infiltration of a Colombian arms operation led by Calva’s Teddy Dos Santos.
“As allegiances splinter, Pine races to expose a conspiracy designed to destabilise a nation. And with betrayal at every turn, he must decide whose trust he needs to earn and how far he’s willing to go before it’s too late,” reads the official BBC synopsis for The Night Manager season 2.

Other cast members include Alistair Petrie as Sandy Langbourne, Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew, Michael Nardone as Frisky, Noah Jupe as Daniel Roper; alongside Indira Varma as Mayra, Paul Chahidi as Basil, and Hayley Squires as Sally.
While a specific premiere date has yet to be confirmed, the BBC has assured The Night Manager is “coming soon” via BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and Amazon Prime Video internationally (hence all the chatter about it) – check out the first-look images throughout this article, and stay tuned for both updates and the eventual trailer.
