As more venues around Sydney start to push the city back towards a late-night economy, the CBD's latest multi-million dollar opening could be the initiative's most substantial yet. Zaffi Sydney is a new two-floor modern Lebanese restaurant and bar helmed by Chef Graeme Hunt (ex-Rockpool, ex-Chin Chin) with designs on breathing a bit of life into the fairly quiet area around Little Hunter Street.
Zaffi, wedged between Dean & Nancy on 22 and Monopole, comes from The Carter Sydney's Chady Khouzame. While that may scream Culture Kings and influencer culture to some, it seems like a necessary addition to what has become a fairly quiet strip, especially now that Frankie's Pizza no longer exists.
You'll find the 154-seater split across two levels, tucked into an alleyway with a ground-level entrance. This is split across 112 seats in the basement and 42 seats on the ground floor, all tied together by Hunt's Australian-Lebanese menu which highlights everything from slow-cooked ribs to grilled halloumi made with organic cheese, Malfoy's honey sourced from the Blue Mountains and thyme zaatar imported from Lebanon. Cap that with baklava soft serve and a 4 AM licence and Zaffi seems destined to capture Sydney's late-night dining scene.
Especially since ribs aren't often readily available so deep into the night.
