When you think about the sports that create the best fan apparel, you probably think of soccer or basketball, with their custom jerseys, jackets, and retro tracksuits. But rarely do we ever think of the AFL.
Melbourne native Simon Agosta is looking to change that with his clothing brand, Milkbar, which has now unveiled its first AFL collaboration with the Carlton Football Club: a clean, honest, 80s-inspired capsule collection of six garments that bring a little bit of homegrown nostalgia to supporting a footy club.

Milkbar previously dabbled in field fashion with an AFL-centric collection back in 2022, affectionately dubbed โMelbourneโs Game,โ which Agosta hand-stitched by himself from the study of his parentsโ home. Three years later, heโs partnered directly with Carlton FC to create this unique kit.
โI always thought international sports merch was really well done,โ he said of the Milkbar x Carlton Football Club collectionโs launch. โAnd I wanted to create some tasteful, elevated pieces for our local game of Australian football.โ

Heโs gone and done exactly that, with a line-up that includes a three-quarter-zip coaches jacket, an old-school cardigan, a knitted sweater, and a crewneck jumper. It also features two t-shirts dedicated to the beating hearts of Carlton (Lygon Street and Princes Park).
The collection is a far cry from the modern sportswear youโll see for sale at stadiums, but itโs a tasteful tribute to the AFL supporters of a bygone era, who loved the game as much as fans do today. For the Carlton faithful keen on supporting a local brand, itโs certainly worth checking out.
