  • The Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole Worldtime Limited Edition flaunts a PVD-gold finish to its case and bracelet, elevating the fan-favourite vintage package.
  • It features a worldtimer bezel to track multiple time zones, an extra leather strap to dial back the bling, and an attractive leather travel pouch for when you’re on the move.
  • Limited to 1,962 pieces, the Australian RRP sits at $4,700.

Everyone needs at least one gold watch in their collection, just in case the occasion calls for it. Rado’s latest Captain Cook Over-Pole Worldtime Limited Edition makes a strong case for why it should be that watch, arriving in stainless steel with a yellow gold-tone PVD coating and enough vintage cues to stay well below the radar.

Inspired by the original Over-Pole watches born during the jet-set era of the 1960s, this expression dials up the dazzle factor compared to the original Rado Over-Pole Worldtime from 2022; and speaks to anyone who appreciates the nostalgia of golden-age aviation (plush seats, gourmet meals, and all).

Its case measures 39mm in diameter and 10.9mm in thickness, promising a comfortable fit on just about any wrist. The dial, on the other hand, is understated – featuring a sunray silver finish and yellow gold markers that complement the case and bracelet.

Vintage white Super-LumiNova fills the lume dots above the indexes for readability in low light, while the dauphine-style hands are similarly coated for a unified look. The date at three o’clock offers essential functionality, but doesn’t overcrowd the dial.

Rado’s signature bi-directional ceramic bezel, laser-engraved with city names, facilitates quick and easy time zone adjustments by simply rotating the bezel until your local reference city aligns with the time on the dial. The 24-hour scale shows the corresponding time for other cities (perfect for frequent flyers).

Powered by the reliable manual-winding R862 movement, the Over-Pole delivers an 80-hour power reserve and features attractive Côtes-de-Genève finishing and blue screws. Plus, it not only arrives with the yellow gold-tone PVD beads-of-rice bracelet, but also a leather strap that’s easy to swap thanks to the quick-change mechanism.

All considered, it’s a very attractive proposition. Even if you aren’t one to regularly don gilded watches.

The Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole Worldtime Limited Edition will be restricted to 1,962 pieces, and set you back $4,700 here in Australia.
