  • Guy Ritchie returns to the big screen with In the Grey, after dominating streaming TV with The Gentlemen and MobLand.
  • In the Grey assembles Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, and Eiza González assemble for a globe-spanning heist where operatives chase a billion-dollar fortune.
  • The first trailer teases another classic Ritchie riot.

Guy Ritchie’s recent resurgence shows no signs of slowing, seemingly discontent with already taking over Netflix and Paramount+’s TV offerings with The Gentlemen and MobLand releasing within just 12 months of each other.

Both titles were met with an expected acclaim. Ritchie can do no wrong. Combine the British director’s signature lens with a star-studded cast that brings Theo James, Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Dame Helen Mirren to the smaller screen, and you’re bound to land a winning hand every time.

But such is the inherent pull of working with one of British cinema’s most revered directors that some of the industry’s biggest names are all falling over each other to appear in the next Guy Ritchie project, In The Grey, another slick operation set somewhere within the shadows of an emerging criminal underworld.

In The Grey feature

After staking out new turf in streaming television, where the Guy Ritchie playbook began to spin out sprawling crime dynasties and mob empires, the director is returning to the big screen with another thriller. One that promises a broader canvas than he’s been used to in recent years, but with another enviable ensemble packed with some serious star power.

In the Grey is Ritchie’s latest globe-trotting caper, assembling a formidable trio led by Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill and Eiza González, who star as Bronco and Sid, an unlikely duo of extraction specialists.

The film circles a dangerous job where power brokers and back-alley dealmakers quietly move fortunes around the world. When a ruthless despot makes off with a billion-dollar stash, a team of highly specialised operatives is tasked with taking it back, by any means necessary. Juicy stuff.

After the title was teased back in 2023, audiences are finally getting their first proper look at the operation in motion, with the first trailer for In the Grey offering a glimpse of the dangerous game about to unfold. It’s familiar terrain for Ritchie; fast-paced, cool, dangerous. All within the murky territory where legality and criminality blur together.

If the premise sounds tailor-made for the filmmaker’s trademark blend of stylish swagger, then early glimpses will be a feast for the senses.

The latest crime-tinged thriller from the self-proclaimed ‘Scoundrel’ also welcomes a few familiar collaborators. Cavill reunites with Ritchie after The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, while Gyllenhaal returns following Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant.

Together, the trio anchor a stellar cast that also includes Rosamund Pike and Kristofer Hivju, further stacking the deck for a stylish crime thriller brimming with personality… and exactly the kind of high-stakes caper that has long defined the Guy Ritchie brand.
