  • Australia has once again proven its worth as a global beef capital with the 2025 World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants rankings.
  • With Neil Perry’s Margaret (#2) leading the pack, a total of 17 domestic diners made the cut for this year’s edition.
  • Established in 2019, the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants is judged by “steak ambassadors” on every continent, whose criteria include meat quality & selection, service, wine lists, and more.

2024 marked an impressive year for Australia’s culinary scene, having secured 10 hotly-contested spots on the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants list. But little did we know this would pale in comparison to 2025’s domestic efforts.

In the ranking’s sixth edition, our proud red meat-eating nation has been acknowledged for 17 eateries – ranging from Margaret (chef-proprietor Neil Perry’s plush “neighbourhood diner” in Double Bay), which improves from last year’s result by a single position, to the Tuscan-inspired Bistecca, also found in Sydney.

Sydney proved to be the dominant Aussie representative this year, as home to almost two-thirds of homegrown list entrants.

In addition to the aforementioned #2 and #99 steak restaurants, respectively, there was Rockpool Bar & Grill (#12), The Grill at The International (#14), former two-time beef king Firedoor (#16), Porteño (#20), The Gidley (#32), Paul Farag’s Aalia (#36), Shell House (#51), The Cut Bar & Grill (#62), as well as Marrickville establishment 20 Chapel (#93).

Outside of the Harbour City, Melbourne pulled its weight with luxe dine-in bitcher Victor Churchill (#18), Steer Dining Room (#37), Gimlet (#45), Matilda 159 Domain (#57), Meatmaiden (#91), and Chris Lucas’Grill Americano (#92).

As for the top spot, Argentina’s Don Julio Parrilla – located in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires – has successfully defended the throne for the third consecutive year.
