Leave it to Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight to churn out another compelling wartime drama series like SAS Rogue Heroes. Televisionโs other hardest-working man bookended 2022 with this six-episode hit about the formation of the eponymous British special forces unit during the darkest days of WWII; based on the 2016 Ben Macintyre book of the same name. But the question remains: when can we expect SAS Rogue Heroes season 2?

SAS Rogue Heroes season 2 confirmed
On December 4th, 2022 โ the same day the season 1 finale aired โ BBC confirmed SAS Rogue Heroes season 2 had been commissioned. True to the promise of last episodeโs closing title card, which was captioned โTo Be Continued.โ
โAfter the roaring success of Rogue Heroes Iโm delighted to be embarking on the next chapter of the story,โ said creator Steven Knight (via Deadline).
โSeries two will take the SAS into mainland Europe and will take our heroes to the limits of their endurance.โ
SAS: Rogue Heroes was the 6th most-watched UK drama series of the year (and the 4th most popular on the BBC).

What will the second season of SAS Rogue Heroes be about?
The first seasonโs finale was something of a rollercoaster for the nascent British SAS.
While Connor Swindellsโ Lieutenant David Stirling managed to secure major backing from legendary Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Jason Watkins) โ and successfully launched a series of airbase attacks along the Mediterranean coast โ the daring soldier is captured while investigating a possible route thatโd allow the British and American forces to unite.
Around the same time, Sofia Boutellaโs enigmatic Eve Mansour is apparently MIA after an air crash that occurred during her return from Alexandria.
With Stirling in the hands of hostiles, Lieutenant Paddy Mayne (Jack OโConnell) is promoted to major and tasked with leading the SAS.
As per the official BBC description, hereโs what we can expect for SAS Rogue Heroes season 2:
โSeries 2 returns to action with the troops in Spring 1943. Paddy Mayne takes control of the SAS following David Stirlingโs capture, and now attention must turn from the conflict in North Africa to mainland Europe. But GHQ have cast doubt over the future of the regiment, while the creation of a second unit and an influx of new arrivals make things even more difficult for the men. Can they prove that the SAS remain essential to the war, wherever it may lead them?โ

The cast welcomes the return of Jack OโConnell as Paddy Mayne, Connor Swindells as David Stirling, Sofia Boutella as Eve Mansour, and of course, Dominic West as Lieutenant Colonel Dudley Clarke.
In season 2 / series 2, Gwilym Lee (The Great, Bohemian Rhapsody) also joins as Bill Stirling โ David Stirlingโs brother and founder of the 2SAS regiment; alongside Con OโNeill (Happy Valley, Our Flag Means Death) as General Sir Bernard Montgomery.

When is the SAS Rogue Heroes season 2 release date (Australia or otherwise)?
While itโs been available to stream via BBC iPlayer since New Yearโs Day, Aussie fans have had to wait a little longer.
SAS Rogue Heroes season 2 officially premieres via SBS Australia and SBS On Demand on February 26th, 2025 at 9:00 PM (AEDT) โ new episodes will air/stream weekly.
In the meantime, SBS On Demand is also where you can revisit the first season.

In November 2024, BBC dropped a first-look SAS Rogue Heroes season 2 trailer, gunfire and all (see: top of this article).
The preview reintroduces us to Jack OโConnellโs Paddy Mayne and Connor Swindellsโ captured David Stirling, while also teasing a change/addition of scenery.
As you may recall, the first season was predominantly set in North Africa, and this time around, the story takes the troops to mainland Europe.
