Anyone who was less than satisfied with the Peaky Blinders finale will be glad to hear Netflix is making it up to you with two spin-offs on the boiler โ in addition to the showโs upcoming feature-length sequel.
According to Bloomberg (of all publications), one of these spin-offs would be set in Boston during the middle of the 20th century; a few decades after the events of the original series.
The other would be centred upon Shelby clan matriarch Polly Gray; given the passing of the characterโs actress, Helen McCrory, we can only assume this would take the form of a prequel delineating her rise to prominence.

This falls in line with earlier sentiments from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who has previously stated heโd be willing to keep the BAFTA-winning crime dramaโs cinematic universe alive with โshows relatedโ to the main story.
Knight did also state, however, that should such projects go ahead, heโd adopt an extremely hands-off approach; instead choosing to โpass on the batonโ to another creative with a vision.
Reports of Netflixโs Peaky Blinders spin-offs comes just days after Steven Knight provided a major update regarding the aforementioned Peaky Blinders movie: the screenplay is in the final stages of completion, with principal photography now scheduled to begin in 2024.
โIโm just working on the final bits of it at the moment,โ he told Radio Times.
โI just sit down at the keyboard and start. Itโs a bit like having a dream, for me. You sit there and all this stuff comes, and then you read it back and think, โThatโs pretty good โ but where did it come from?'โ
โThe plan is to start shooting that in the middle of next year.โ
Elsewhere, the British entertainment creative โ who has been keeping himself busy with everything from SAS: Rogue Heroes and several other period dramas (i.e. one about the rise of Ferrari; another British crime drama starring Stephen Graham) โ confirmed โthe story is not yet over.โ
โHuge thanks to our incredible fans for the past ten years. Hereโs to the next ten.โ

So where does the man behind Tommy Shelby himself, Cillian Murphy, fit into all this? The Oppenheimer star has (thankfully) expressed how game he is to return for a feature-length character exploration on multiple occasions.
โThatโs probably the worst thing about Peaky Blinders โ getting asked about the movie all the time!โ joked Murphy.
โIโm totally open to the idea, but I also do think it was a kind of perfect six seasons. Itโs sometimes hard to move into the film format, and I do like the ambiguity of the ending, but Iโm always open to a great scriptโฆ who wouldnโt be?โ
