- Taylors Wines’ 2023 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has earned the Best of Class Trophy at California’s East Meets West Competition.
- Three-month gold medal-winning tour of the world aside, what’s remarkable about this drop is that it’ll only cost you $22.
- But this award is just the tip of the critically acclaimed iceberg for the South Australian winery.
While any accolade being awarded to Taylors Wines Estate should come as no surprise, the family-owned operation from South Australia has once again proven itself on the international stage.
Thanks to its 2023 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon – priced at $22 – Taylors Wines has now taken home the prestigious Best of Class Trophy from this year’s East Meets West Competition, hosted in California.

“We started our winery to craft Australian wines equal to the world’s best,” explained Mitchell Taylor, Chairman at Taylors Wines.
“This run of international success proves we’re not just matching global standards – we’re setting them and doing it at a price that puts world-class wine within everyone’s reach.”
Mr Taylor continued: “It’s fantastic that our Estate Cabernet, our very first wine released back in 1973, is still winning major international awards over 50 years later.”
That “run of international success” not only includes this latest Best of Class honour in California, but also gold medals from the International Wine & Spirits Awards (Spain), VINUS International Wine & Spirits Competition (Argentina), Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards (South Africa), as well as the USA Wine Ratings across the last three months.

And earlier this week, Taylors Wines as a whole was also named Best Australian Producer at Germany’s Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Awards; earned the Top International Wine Trophy for its 2023 Jaraman Shiraz at the aforementioned Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards; as well as claiming the Best Vintage Section Shiraz trophy on home soil during the Clare Valley Wine Show for its 2024 Heritage Shiraz.
All in all, between the East Meets West Competition results and the global acclaim of Taylors Wines’ various Shiraz vintages, consider this a well-needed reminder that a world-class drop doesn’t need to break the bank.
