Taylors Estate Shiraz 2020 – which retails for an extremely affordable $22 – has been named overall international champion at this year’s VINUS International Wine & Spirits Competition; in addition to taking home 17 trophies and double gold medals from the prestigious Argentinian wine show.

Recognition amongst the world’s best bottles of wines is obviously quite an accomplishment. But to do so as a humble, family-owned and operated winery from Australia – the sole representative from our sunburnt country at VINUS this time around, in fact – makes the achievement that much more incredible.

Made from grapes grown on the Clare Valley region’s Limestone Coast, Taylors Wines describes its critically-acclaimed 2020 drop as a “soft and fleshy” shiraz boasting a “lively palate” of juicy red berry fruits, plum, and spice, along with subtle chocolate and “savoury characters from the oak maturation” in American barrels.

“It’s a special day at the winery when we receive news about an international trophy win,” said Mitchell Taylor, third-generation winemaker and managing director of Taylors Wines.

“We’re particularly excited that our Estate Shiraz – a wine we’ve produced since our very first vintage in the early 70s – was recognised as the wine of show against entrants from all over the world.”

“We’re proud of our Estate Shiraz’s reputation as one of Australia’s top value-for-money wines. This award is a testament to our winemaking team and their ability to produce a wine that’s been loved worldwide for more than 50 years.”
