The F1 summer break makes no sense in 2026. Earlier this year, the championship had a perfectly legitimate reason to stop racing: a war raging in the Middle East meant we had to lose the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix. It continues still, forcing F1 to rearrange its carefully choreographed calendar, replacing Bahrain with a return to Sepang. So why the summer break? I understand 24 races is a long old stint for the thousands of team members who spend the majority of the year in transit. At some point, everyone needs to go home. But a whole month of no racing action in between Hungary and Zandvoort makes no sense in 2026 given the earlier disruption. Get the lads back from the beach and the lights back on. It’s time to go racing.
