Alex Volkanovski is hosting Australia's first tailgate at Seaworks in Williamstown to celebrate the kick off of NFL Down Under (unofficial title). Hosted alongside Airbnb on September 11, the free event promises beer pong, thong tosses, and gameday grub served by the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion himself. 20 spots go online from 9AM this Wednesday; each one covers you plus four mates, so that’s 100 people through the gate. Mine’s with onions, Volk.
1800's newest GuachiMonton tequila is nothing to sniff at. I sampled it last Friday night after dinner at Darlo’s Linla – one of a very few hospitality spots across Australia giving punters a first taste before releasing the bottle. The tequila – GuachiMonton – is an añejo harvested in Jalisco, where the Guachimontones pyramids are located. It’s tangy, complex, and citrusy (aged in American and French oak before a final finish in orange tequila liqueur casks), and comes with a little liqueur choc from Zokoko. The pairing is $40, available at the below until the end of the month:
NSW: Ikaria, Iberica, El Primo Sanchez, Cafe Sydney, Linla, The Belongil; VIC: Hotel Nacional, Lost Bar, Yum Sing House/LFK Bar, Inuman/Askal, SoHo; QLD: The Mondrian, Ju Ju.
