A Free Nintendo ‘Mario Kart’ Mobile Game Is Coming This September

— Updated on 16 December 2022

Get ready to relive your childhood with the release of Mario Kart Tour, a mobile version of Nintendo’s classic game Mario Kart.

Expect to see all your favourite characters return for this free-to-play racer, coming to both Apple iOS and Android this September. Keen fans can already pre-order Mario Kart Tour through the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The mobile version will feature many classic courses from the original, such as Rainbow Road, Luigi’s Mansion, Koopa Troopa Beach and Dino Dino Jungle, along with new tracks inspired by real-life cities New York, Toyko and Paris. Nintendo says these new courses are “special in-game event courses … [that] will be available during specific time periods at launch and beyond.” You’ll also be able to unlock and collect new characters, karts and gliders.

There’s no word yet on whether the game will have a multiplayer option, but considering how well Pokemon did, I’m sure it won’t be long until you’ll be taking your friends out with red shells.

Mario Kart Tour will be available for both iOS and Android on September 25th.
