The world’s biggest musical sensation from the past decade, Hamilton, is coming to Sydney’s Lyric Theatre in early 2021, it was confirmed this morning.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the impending arrival of the critical and commercial theatrical success – written by Broadway mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda – alongside local Australian producer Michael Cassel on Wednesday.
One of the most successful shows in the world, Hamilton: The American Musical follows the story of American founding Father Alexander Hamilton, and features hip-hop, rap, R&B, soul and a variety of classic show tunes.
Hamilton landed a record number of Tony Award nominations in 2016, taking home 11 of them, including best musical, best score, best director, and best actor. Miranda complemented the local announcement on Twitter for excited fans.
