Just moments ago Netflix debuted its announcement for the upcoming crime drama The Irishman in an ad spot during this year’s Academy Awards. Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, the film is based on Charles Brandt’s book I Heard You Paint Houses, and has been on Scorsese’s list of passion projects for years.

After a rocky start a few years ago, Netflix picked up production of the film in 2017 which has since reportedly surpassed a staggering US$200 million budget. The Irishman is slated for release in ‘Fall’ of 2019, so presumably sometime around October.
