Black Panther is on its way to dominating the box office, with an opening week that has managed to topple the monolith that is The Avengers. Coming in with a first-week gross of US$292 million for North America, it ranks higher than the first Avengers which snagged US$300 million over 9 days.
An additional US$228 internationally also ensured an overall US$520 million total worldwide for first-week. Momentum will luckily continue according to Variety, with roughly US$90-100 million coming in across the second weekend for North America.
That means the Wakandan focused film will be on track for an easy win in the long run, which will be truly epic for all involved.
