Paul McClean might not be a name you’re all that familiar with, but the Irishman is well known among Hollywood circles as the go-to architect for the rich and famous, having built homes for Calvin Klein, the Winklevoss Twins as well as Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
Once again working in conjunction with movie producer turned property developer, Nile Niami, McClean’s latest creation is an AU$94 million pool paradise on Bel-Air’s coveted Carcassonne Drive.
Situated on two hillside acres, the 28,000-square-foot mansion is surrounded by a modern-day moat and is similar in design to a luxury tropical resort, although this one you have all to yourself. The main entry mirrors a hotel foyer, welcoming guests with its 25-foot high ceilings and a grand staircase that winds its way towards the second floor.

The home boasts nine bedrooms with the master bedroom so large it comes with a massive L-shaped couch and enough room to park a car (should you desire a decor a little something like this).
It also features a huge dressing room and walk-in timber wardrobe. The family room comes with a fireplace and has retractable glass windows that can be opened to allow the sunlight to cascade in during those warm Californian afternoons.

An ultra-modern ‘chandelier’ hangs above the kitchen’s marble benchtop which also complements the marble floor. Occupants will also stumble across a 14-seater movie theatre with leather armchairs, a whopping 17 bathrooms, a spectacular glass wine cellar, hair salon, gym and a wellness spa with separate massage and yoga studios.

Beyond the whitewashed walls, the centrepiece of the property is a massive 50-metre pool, a cascading water wall and a large outdoor entertaining area set against a backdrop of palm trees and manicured lawns.
