After usually spending $2,000 just to set foot on the continent, we often struggle to keep it on budget when hitting up various European destinations. Mykonos, Ibiza and the French Riviera all sound tempting, but where can you actually get bang for your buck?

Well thanks to the Post Office City Costs Barometer for 2018, a ranking has been devised which takes into consideration the average price for a number of typical tourist items, including; a three-course meal for two with a bottle of house wine, a cup of coffee, a coca-cola, a beer, and a glass of wine, a return bus or train transfer from the airport to the city, a 48-hour city travel card, a sightseeing tour, and a visit to a leading museum, a gallery, and a heritage attraction.

Check out the top 12 cheap picks in the gallery below, with the cheapest coming in at Â£164.80 for the collection of activities.
