Sleep In A Bubble At Thailand’s Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort

— Updated on 19 May 2020

The elephant may not quite be in the room… but it’s about as close as you’ll ever get.

How does waking up (safely) next to an elephant sound? Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort is making this bucket list dream a reality with their wild transparent luxury accommodation options. Designed to facilitate an “immersive natural experience,” guests can unwind and witness these gentle giants from their king bed in the tranquil serenity of an air-conditioned bubble.

Jungle bubbles are the latest high-tech structures being used by resorts to bring guests unique and unforgettable experiences. Inconceivable until recent times, this ground-breaking structure is made possible by Serge Ferrari’s Precontraint technology (techy types dive in here).

With private, non-transparent en-suites complemented by bathrobes and slippers, a fully stocked mini-bar, 24-7 room… uh, bubble service, and a delectable dinner basket included, guests can indulge in every luxury and observe the rhythms of the jungle as dusk descends upon the Golden Triangle’s wilderness.

Nestled amidst 160 acres of pristine jungle, Anatara Camp and Resort is perched on top of a ridge in Northern Thailand that affords guests uninterrupted views of the Golden Triangle (Thailand, Laos and Myanmar) and the Mekong and Ruak rivers, so you can soak in three countries from a single vista.

Anatara works with the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF) as a sanctuary and rehabilitation centre for sixty-odd rescued elephants. Their vision is to provide guests with inspirational encounters where they can “observe, play and connect with elephants in their natural environment.”

For die-hard elephant fans, there is a range of packages available, from ‘Walking with Giants’ and the ‘Elephant Learning Experience’ (where you’ll learn about elephant biology and behaviour from biologists and vets) to sunset strolls and the opportunity to sponsor an elephant.

Waking up to a herd of playful pachyderm’s passing by your see-through bubble in their natural environment must surely rate amongst one of the more surreal and satisfying sights holidayers can aim for. Knowing your patronage of this incredible establishment contributes toward their conservation and wellbeing only sweetens the deal.
