Ah what a time weโre living in. After initial reductions of 23% on its international routes and 5% on itโs domestic routes last week, Qantas and Jetstar have just announced sweeping and drastic cuts to their global network, all but grounding the international fleet and reducing domestic travel routes by 60%.
In a corporate press statement, Qantas Group said the cuts were coming into effect from the end of March and will be running until โat least the end of Mayโ, and represent the grounding of around 150 aircraft โ including almost all of Qantas and Jetstarโs wide-body fleet. Previously announced cuts in place from end-May through to mid-September remain in place and are likely to be increased, depending on demand.
If youโve got a Qantas or Jetstar booking from now until May 31st, 2020, you can cancel your flight for a full travel credit voucher โ but only if you do so by March 31.
Customers with existing bookings on any domestic or international flight until 31 May 2020, who no longer wish to travel, can cancel their flight and retain the value of the booking as a travel credit voucher. This needs to be processed by 31 March 2020.
Call centre wait times are reportedly up to 6 hours so to get it done quickly and easily, visit Manage Booking on Qantas.com, select โCancelโ and then โVoucherโ. Jetstar customers should go to Manage My Booking on Jetstar.com.
