Following an understandable hiatus in 2020, Victoria has brought back the state’s popular Wine Down Pop Up hotel series, offering overnight stays at two of the most iconic wine regions in the country.

Sleeping either amongst the vines of The Morning Peninsula’s Montalto, and its sister estate Tucks, or Rutherglen’s All Saints Estate, the modular Wine Down Pop Up hotel has been built with two boutique, design-forward luxury rooms. And each has been kitted out to align with the idea of the perfect date night – think taste-of-the-region minibars, breakfast hampers, premium ben linens, and other high-end amenities.

There’s even a private pizza oven for each hotel just in case guests want some fresh pie to tuck into after exploring the property’s local wine region.

Mantalto x Tucks will be the first stop for the Wine Down Pop Up, launching on Red Hill and staying in place from 29th March to 26th April. Here, hotel guests will be able to walk the estate’s Sculpture Trail and, if the pizza oven just won’t do, dine at The Piazza or the Montalto restaurant.

After soaking up the surrounds of Mornington Peninsula, the Wine Down Pop Up will then be anchored at All Saints Estate from 5th May to 2nd June. Guests opting for that location have plenty to keep them busy, with historic Rutherglen stacked with options for private tastes, picnics, and bike trails. It’s also worth hitting up All Saints for their ‘be a winemaker for a day’ program, where vintner Nick Brown shows guests the ropes, takes them on a vineyard tour and private barrel-room tasting, and treats them to a three-course lunch at Terrace restaurant.

The local tourism board, Visit Victoria, is also using the Wine Down Pop Up as a chance to showcase the state’s ‘five wine pillars’ through in-room VR devices. In case you weren’t already familiar, that’s the Pinot Coast (Geelong & Bellarine Peninsula, Mornington Peninsula, and Gippsland), Shiraz Central (Heathcote, Pyrenees, Grampians, Bendigo, Ballarat, Macedon Ranges, and Goulburn Valley), King Valley Prosecco Road, Muscat of Rutherglen, and of course the might Yarra Valley.

The stay at the modular hotel and immerse yourself in the local wine regions, you’re looking at $275 per night, between Sunday and Thursday, and $375 per night on Friday and Saturday.
