Netflix’s The Playbook Docuseries Will Spotlight Legendary Coaches

A considerable amount of attention has been paid to athletes on the documentary front this year, and now, Netflix is giving the legendary coaches behind the legendary players their day in the sun with the upcoming documentary series – The Playbook.

Produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, The Playbook will get up close and personal with five of these notable figures who possess “championship resumes” across five episodes – offering insights about the crucial moments in their own careers, the crucial moments lived by their respective athlete(s), as well as lessons to take home which can be applied beyond the sport (“… rules for success in sports and life.”).

The full roster of key onscreen talent will include:

  • Doc Rivers – the man behind the Los Angeles Clippers
  • Jill Ellis – the woman behind two FIFA World Cup wins
  • Jose Mourinho – Premier League manager
  • Patrick Mouratoglou – coach to Serena Williams
  • and Dawn Staley – basketball Hall of Famer & coach

This has all the makings of a juicy weekend binge. Inspiring, enlightening, and based on what has been teased, potentially even unflinching. It certainly isn’t often the general public gets to pick the brains of the masterminds who are responsible for the winning team’s preparation and strategy to this extent.

The Playbook will be available to stream via Netflix from September 22nd.
