Apple Is Rebooting ‘Band Of Brothers’ With Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks

— Updated on 30 July 2021

Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are joining forces with Apple for a new World War II series pitched as a follow-up to the acclaimed dramas Band Of Brothers and The Pacific.

The new series is called Masters Of The Air and is based on the book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller. It will tell the story of the American Bomber Boys who took on the fight against the Germans in the air.

This will be the first series produced by Apple’s own production studio and will feature on the anticipated Apple TV+ that launches next month. Deadline is reporting the show will be more than eight hours in length with a production budget of US$200 million.

Masters Of The Air was initially meant to be the third instalment in Spielberg and Hanks’ WWII franchise for HBO, but when the network decided to pass, Apple made their move and gave it the green-light.

Spielberg and Hanks are executive producers to the project, alongside Gary Goetzman from Playtone, with Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey on board as co-executive producers, alongside Steven Shareshian (Playtone), John Orloff and Graham Yost who both produced Band of Brothers. Orloff will also be involved in writing the series.

Master Of The Air will air exclusively on Apple TV+. There are no cast details as of yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop. Until then check out the trailer for the original Band Of Brothers.
