Grand Seiko has opened the doors to their first Melbourne boutique, nestled within the heritage splendour of The Block Arcade. Designed around the brand’s philosophy, “The Nature of Time,” the 250-square-metre space on Collins Street is the brand’s second Australian boutique, following the opening of their Sydney Market St store in 2021.
Spanning three levels, the concept blends contemporary Japanese aesthetics with classic elegance, offering an entrancing experience for Melbourne’s watch enthusiasts. Inside, you’ll find a curated showcase of timepieces that range from the Masterpiece collection’s works of mechanical art, to boutique-exclusive models never before seen in Melbourne (such as the recently released Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Tentagraph “Tokyo Lion” SLGC009). From the sweeping mezzanine down to the underground bar, it’s anything but a boutique built for quick commerce.

For watch fans yet to experience Grand Seiko’s quality in the metal, each dial, case, and movement reflects the brand’s dedication to both precision and craftsmanship. Regardless of whether it’s the sweep of a Spring Drive-powered seconds hand or the razor-sharp finishing of a Hi-Beat movement, you’re in for a treat if you appreciate fine watchmaking.
“We are delighted to open the first Grand Seiko Melbourne boutique,” said Vincent Cuche, Head of Grand Seiko Australia and New Zealand. “The Block Arcade – with its historic significance as a luxury shopping precinct – is the perfect location to introduce Grand Seiko’s exquisite timepieces to a discerning Australian audience.”

Beyond the watches themselves, the boutique invites collectors to enjoy their time in the space, with a private lounge, bar, and sitting areas that encourage relaxed conversation with Grand Seiko specialists, over a Japanese whisky or matcha tea. Plus, if you’re interested in diving headfirst into the fascinating world of Japanese watchmaking that Grand Seiko represents, the boutique will also host invitation-only events and rotating exhibitions, ensuring there’s always something new to discover.
The boutique effortlessly guides clients through Grand Seiko’s legacy, with each floor offering a different snapshot of its horological history. No matter if you’re a seasoned collector or new to Japanese watchmaking, this is a destination that’s made for exploring the subtle beauty and technical sophistication that defines Grand Seiko.
