First Look: FX’s Taboo

Tom Hardy is hitting the small screen in FX’s eight part miniseries Taboo, alongside Michael Kelly (House of Cards) and Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones). The ever-talented Hardy, who is nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category for his portrayal of antagonist John Fitzgerald in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant, is executive producing alongside Ridley Scott (The Martian) and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). Knight last collaborated with Hardy on the feature film Locke, which released last April to critical acclaim, as well as the second season of Knight’s series Peaky Blinders, making this nothing short of a mouth-watering combination.

Hardy plays James Keziah Delaney, an Englishman who returns to London from deepest, darkest Africa in 1814 after the death of his father. Delaney inherits the family shipping company but finds a host of new enemies in the place he used to call home, with the trailer giving us a glimpse of the extensive range Hardy has become renowned for. The concept was dreamt up by Hardy and his real father Chips Hardy, and despite an official release date being some time away, insiders expect a drop sometime in 2017.
