Netflix’s ‘Drive To Survive’ Season 2 Includes All 10 Formula 1 Teams

After the surprise success of Formula 1: Drive To Survive, the visually intoxicating 10-part documentary series following the top drivers of last year’s F1 season, Netflix has confirmed the show will be returning for a second season.

The new season will once again be produced by Academy Award winner James Gay-Rees (Senna) and feature all 10 Formula 1 teams in a detailed look into the life of an F1 driver and the lengths they will go to in order to become champion. Previously, Mercedes and Ferrari were noticeably absent from the series after not allowing Netflix access to the inner workings of their teams or drivers.

“We are thrilled to once again be working with Netflix on the second series of Drive to Survive,” Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights for Formula 1 announced. “It is a truly unique series which allows fans to see the unseen side of F1, showcasing the personalities and emotions each team and driver goes through, both on and off the grid. Drive to Survive has enabled us to reach an entirely new fanbase globally and partnering with Netflix for a second season ensures we are continuing to put fans at the heart of what we do, making the sport more open and accessible to all.”

The series is expected to hit Netflix in early 2020, presumably sometime around the next season’s opening race at Melbourne’s Albert Park.
