Donald Glover To Produce A New Animated Deadpool Series

— Updated on 2 August 2021

Donald Glover is out to further prove himself as the most versatile dude in the game (games). Glover, aka Childish Gambino, will try his hand at animation next, with TV Guide reporting that he and his brother, Stephen Glover, will co-create an animated series based on Marvel’s Deadpool comics for FX’s FXX channel.

This comes off the back of the Glover’s recently winning a Golden Globe for their show “Atlanta” featured on FX. Donald created and starred in the show, while Stephen worked as a writer. Both Donald and Stephen will serve as writers and executive producers for the new Deadpool series.

The 2016 Deadpool movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. The untitled animated series has also been described as an “adult-action comedy”, so we think something equally crude can be expected from this adaptation. If you’ve seen any of Glover’s early stand-up, then you’ll know he’s more than capable of producing something of this nature.

The yet-to-be-named Deadpool series is expected to air next year, meaning 2018 is shaping up to be a big one for Glover fans. Season 2 of Atlanta has been delayed until 2018 and Glover will also be taking to the big screen, playing Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo Star Wars movie. In the meantime Glover will appear in another Marvel production, “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” which will be released in July.

The new Deadpool series currently has 10 episodes on order for its first season.
